Trim Levels (Exterior)
You can choose from the Ram 1500 Limited, Limited Longhorn, Rebel, Laramie, Big Horn, Tradesman, Tradesman HFE, and TRX. There are two cab configurations available: Quad Cab and Crew Cab. On entry-level versions, halogen lights come included, whereas higher-end trims feature LEDs. To differentiate the appearance, some versions have a blacked-out grille, but for the most part, a grille with chrome inserts is standard. Each trim brings different highlights, such as the Ram 1500 Rebel's two-tone paint and a raised height.
There are also two notable special editions. The Limited Elite special version has a retractable bed step and a multifunction tailboard, and the RED edition has a bold all-black exterior and 22-inch alloy wheels.
Engine (Power)
There are four Ram 1500 engine options, the first being a mild-hybrid eTorque 3.6-liter V-6 with 305 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. The 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 produces 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque, available with or without the mild-hybrid system.
The 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 produces 260 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque, and it has the highest towing capacity of any Ram model at 9,600 pounds. Exclusive to the TRX trim, the iconic 6.2-liter Supercharged HEMI V-8 engine produces 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet and offers a top speed of 118 mph.
Performance
The 2023 Ram 1500 is built with a 98% high-strength steel frame, optimal for rigidity and durability. With the right equipment, you can get a gasoline towing capability of up to 12,750 pounds and up to 2,300 pounds of payload capacity. In every test, this Ram rides in true luxury. The well-tuned suspension and precise steering are accessible while still giving you plenty of control against uneven roads or sharp turns.
Interior
The 2023 Ram 1500 will fit up to six passengers with a three-person front bench seat or five passengers with front bucket seats. The Tradesman, HFE, and Big Horn/Lone Star receive the Uconnect 3 system, which has a 5-inch touchscreen display, Bluetooth connection, USB ports, SiriusXM Guardian, and a six-speaker sound system. For the Laramie trim and higher, you'll get a Uconnect 5 system with an 8.4-inch touchscreen, SiriusXM radio, a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot, and a 10-speaker sound system.
The Limited Longhorn, Limited, and Limited Elite special editions all come with a stunning 12-inch touchscreen Uconnect 5 interface positioned vertically in the center console. This infotainment setup comes with a 10-speaker sound system initially, but a 19-speaker premium Harman Kardon sound system is also available as an upgrade. The Limited Elite trim includes this system as standard.
Safety Features
All new Ram 1500 models bring multistage airbags, anti-lock brake system (ABS), traction and stability control, and a rearview camera. Forward collision mitigation is standard on the Laramie trim and above. Blind-spot monitoring, including caravan coverage, is included in the Limited model. Safety packages available on different trims let you add additional safety gear, such as a full-color head-up display, digital rearview mirror, trailer tire-pressure monitoring feature, and even automatic trailer reversal.
